What is a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns (caps) are restorations that cover teeth, restoring them to their natural size, shape, and color. A crown not only helps with appearance, but can strengthen a tooth as well.
Why do you need a Dental Crown?
The main purpose of constructing a dental crown is to protect fragile teeth from fracture or to improve the shape of a tooth.
-Large filling which may break easily.
– Broken tooth where a significant portion of a tooth is missing.
-Cracked tooth to maintain the integrity of the tooth.
-Tooth with root canal filling to prevent fracture of dead fragile teeth and restore the normal tooth colour.
-Malformed tooth to restore aesthetic shape.
What is a Dental Bridge?
Dental bridges are fixed/non removable fake teeth that replace one or more missing teeth. Teeth on both sides of the missing tooth space are used to attach the bridge to improve function and esthetics. Dental crowns and bridges are made of porcelain, and may or may not have an inner layer of metal, while some are made of metal alone.
